Gate helps to keep your home secure but is also about connecting you with your local community. It is inviting to your network but strong and reliable when necessary.
The Gate brand embodies a community-focused relatability and a strong and established feeling of trust and security.
An important part of introducing the public to this new product was to help people imagine the device on their door, showing that it is not intrusive.
The Freight Family was chosen as a brand font to add a feeling of authenticity and legacy that will help to balance out the more modern looking brand mark. Having a really large family of weights and styles was nice too.
The branding process started with looking at how customers would be interacting with the product. I though a lot about this idea of Gate being a filter between you and the outside world. I also went through a lot of door, lock and keyhole concepts.
Once the brand mark was figured out, I looked to the website, where this mark would mostly live. The focuses were to show the product on a door and to point out the features that differentiated our product.
